To give you an inside look, we sat down with our Head of Procurement to explore how the team operates and how they help keep Olleco ready for anything.

 

What does the procurement team do at Olleco?

“Procurement covers a wide range of areas within Olleco,” they explained. “A big part of our role is managing the fresh oil supply chain and making sure depots have the oil they need so customers are served on time.”

But the team’s responsibilities go far beyond oil.

“We look after a wide range of business essentials. Everything from chemicals, uniforms and PPE to service contracts and operational supplies. Our job is to make sure what we buy is high quality, reliable and align with our standards. We also support energy‑related purchasing and manage the certificates generated from our plants.”

This broad remit ensures that every part of Olleco’s operation runs smoothly and that customers always receive the service they expect.

 

How do we choose the right suppliers?

Reliability starts with selecting the right partners.

“We compare options using competitive quotes and tenders, making sure we benchmark like‑for‑like. We check that suppliers meet our criteria, including all SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) requirements, and we look closely at reliability, service levels and sustainability. There’s a lot more to it than price, sometimes the cheapest quote isn’t all it seems!”

This rigorous process ensures that every supplier strengthens our supply chain rather than putting it at risk.

How does procurement support the wider business?

“We work with the experts at each site, taking their local experience and knowledge to help locate suppliers, benchmark service levels and ensure we’re working with partners who can support our operational needs. We then support onboarding new suppliers to our approved list and continue to support throughout the life of any contract.”

This collaboration ensures every decision is grounded in real operational insight, another reason our supply chain stays strong and responsive, from site-specific needs to wider business requirements.
