Building safer, smarter operations: Inside Olleco’s General Manager Away Day

Olleco’s Away Day united General Managers to boost safety, efficiency, and leadership. Sessions covered driver training, O Licence compliance, accident reviews, 5S, and recruitment.

At Olleco, continuous improvement isn’t just a goal—it’s part of our culture. Every year, our General Managers (GMs) gather for an Away Day designed to sharpen operational efficiency and reinforce the highest safety standards across our network.

 

This year’s event brought together leaders from across the business for a day of learning, collaboration, and practical insights. Key sessions explored:

  • Advanced driver training to keep our teams safe and skilled.
  • O Licence compliance and its role in responsible fleet management.
  • Accident investigation best practice for thorough and effective reviews.
  • 5S workplace organisation to maintain clean, efficient depots.
  • Recruitment strategies to attract and retain exceptional talent.
  • Plus a range of other topics focused on safety and performance.

 

Stephen Weston, our SHEQ and Business Improvement Director, summed up the importance of the day:
“These sessions are vital for sharing knowledge and strengthening processes. They help us stay ahead and ensure our managers have the tools to lead effectively.”

The day wrapped up with a fast-paced safety quiz that tested knowledge and quick thinking. Congratulations to Neil Willing from London West, winner of the South quiz, and Don Peacock from North East, who claimed victory in the North.
